Lyin' Ryan, and "war hero" McCain? McCain should do something brave, and expose these creeps. What does he have to lose? One time he COULD be a hero. McConnell looks like he is close to tears. Does he have a crush on the guy who is talking?

I don't expect anything from McCain. Graham might not be his buddy in bullshit anymore if he does anything worth doing.

McCain is just as much FOS as Graham is anyway.

7. I would not trust any one of these men with anything, any time, anywhere.

They are corrupt. They are insincere. They are capable of lying without effort. They care for themselves and the people who give them money.

I cannot think of the name of the man behind Cassidy (in the red tie). I saw him yesterday talking about how his wife was a breast cancer survivor and he would not support any bill that did not protect people. His wife has probably never had to worry for a nanosecond about paying her doctor and hospital bills. This breast cancer survivor knows the cost of the treatment personally. I was still working during treatment and had good coverage. I saw the statements though...hundreds of thousands were billed. My inability to work full time also created about $20,000 less in income that year. Since my job required 12 hr shifts, I was not physically able to return to that after treatment. Also the mental effects of chemo (google chemo brain) made me concerned about the ability to continue in a job that might seriously affect other people's healthcare (I was a hospital RN). None of this is simple.

Profit should never be the main focus of healthcare.

Since I now have lymphedema from my treatment, I wear a compression sleeve day and night to control the swelling in my arm. These garments need to be replaced about every six months. Each day requires a sleeve and glove for day and another for night. That is about $100 for each set. I am now on Medicare so that is out of pocket for me. Congress has been working on a bill about this for a couple of years now.

We need to hear yours and those of others to encourage us to do more to fight this travesty! As you say, we need a national change in attitude on how we pay for healthcare.

Makes me want to grab a Molly book and hide in the hills, LOL.

I am not a TN native. I grew up in GA in Atlanta suburbs when they were still small towns. Came to East TN to college and have lived most of my adult life here.

Grew up in middle TN with folks so poor it was a huge treat to go to the Smokies (we thought Florida was a foreign country, LOL). Still love going there and taking a grand tour through Gatlinburg, Cherokee, then Fontana, then on around to Maryville - especially in a sporty car!

Some of my friends in mid.-TN would paint their yards orange if they could, and folks up here in KY are just as nuts with the blue (KY) and red (Lou.). I don't care 'cause I'm not into sports at all.

One of my friends here went through the big "C" as you did but was lucky didn't have to have chemo. She still went through hell, though. I told her a bit about your story today on the phone and she said they still won't take her BP in her arms, even though they didn't remove any glands.

Hoping you and her both stay in remission, and good luck on your Medicare. Let's hope the good side of the USA prevails!

is just sick, and very angry that, by accident of place of birth and family, far too many Americans will face outrageous costs (and perhaps bankruptcy) because of a similar diagnosis.
I was retired but still under my employer's benefits coverage when diagnosed 9 years ago. But even if I had not had supplemental insurance coverage, my diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, neupogen shots and all drugs - during chemo and for the next 5 years -- would not have cost me a penny.
My few extra dollars in federal and provincial taxes each year insures that not just I or my spouse (who, very sadly, died 2 weeks ago) but all my fellow Canadians receive the optimum in healthcare. And yes, the only decisions about my healthcare are those made by my doctor and me. We have never, ever had to ask the "government" to approve anything. That is the nasty shibboleth the Repubs use to frighten the masses. And, I wait no more than 48 hours for an appt with him, and critical treatment/surgery etc. are attended to almost immediately.
So many lies are told about healthcare in Canada. Certain elective surgeries may take several months to schedule, but there are private clinics who will fix your knee, do cataract surgery or facelifts (for example) immediately and for a fee for those who just can't wait, and who can afford it. But the only wealthy folks who do travel to the US for surgery are those who desire utmost privacy and a suite of rooms at a for-profit hospital.
Keep fighting for single-payer -- it's the only way to save your healthcare system. It's only the moral thing to do.

Families will pay LESS under this bill than under the ACA. Fella in La pays $40,000 a year for special needs child insurance...his premiums will be lower under this new bill.

Notice that he does not say that the man pays $40k in PREMIUMS. My guess is that that's premiums AND copays AND deductible AND coinsurance. Which is still outrageous. We also need to know how much that man's income is, and what kind of plan he has, and whether it's individual or group employer policy.

The pundits don't ask the detailed questions they should. This lets Cassidy get away with lying.

None of these guys understand insurance.
