I wonder if this is the only sea lion getting accustomed to doing this. I wonder how many smaller boats could be sunk by sea lions looking for an easy meal?

but for the Sea Lion also. This critter is not afraid of boats that could hurt him/her and teach it to not fear humans exposing it to poachers or just people who want to harm it.
