...behind the scenes on 'Last Word' ... an awesome, humanizing look at our normally unflappable news host.
STOP THE HAMMERING! ODonnell cries suddenly, in response to a knocking sound running faintly in the background...
STOP THE HAMMERING UP THERE. WHOS GOT A HAMMER? WHERE IS IT? WHERES THE HAMMER? GO UP ON THE OTHER FLOOR. SOMEBODY GO UP THERE AND STOP THE HAMMERING. STOP THE HAMMERING. ILL GO DOWN TO THE GODDAMNED FLOOR MYSELF AND STOP IT, KEEP THE GODDAMNED COMMERCIAL BREAK GOING. CALL FUCKING PHIL GRIFFIN, I DONT CARE WHO THE FUCK YOU HAVE TO CALL. STOP THE HAMMERING. EMPTY OUT THE GODDAMNED CONTROL ROOM AND FIND OUT WHERE THIS IS GOING ON.
Fucking out of control shit, ODonnell adds.
Jesus Christ, he then says as he adds a pen to the things he chooses to slam on his desk. Crazy fucking sound coming in my ear, this fucking stupid hammering.
It just fucking sucks, ODonnell laments, staring down at his desk. It fucking sucks to be out here with this out of control shit.

(2,412 posts)I imagine that the hammering was someone who is paid far less than Larry DOING THEIR JOB.

I'm awful enough to dig it, but I'm glad he expressed remorse. Totally human.

(2,412 posts)...however, not everyone is getting paid 6-7 figures to show leadership.
The hammering? I'm sorry Larry, but if someone is hammering something, it is BECAUSE THEY ARE DOING THEIR JOB. You don't like people talking about the Labor Day show? Sorry, but they are DOING THEIR JOB.

I have (had) a boss who acts like this on a daily basis....he's a Trump supporter...he got in my face acting like this
I am tall, 6ft 4 and tower over him....I told him that if this was something that he would not subject his wife to on a daily basis basis, I am damn sure not putting up with it....and I walked off his project.....

(36,914 posts)As to the rest of your post, I am glad you stood up for yourself and walked away (though you shouldn't have had to continually experience it in the first place).

That video is heavily edited. His 8 minutes of frustration on the video you posted, were likely spread out for the entire hour he was on air.
His job relies heavily on the people in the control room doing their jobs. He can't get up from his desk. It's recorded live. His situation is timed down to the second, and he asked repeatedly for help with his ear piece. That shit went on for an hour.
Someone in that control room needs to lose their job over leaving him to struggle with the sound in his ear for the whole show.
I hope some people lose their jobs over it. He deserves better.
