They're still finding people alive in Mexico

What an amazing rescue effort . And it's not just Mexicans. LA County sent a team with dogs. ..trained and untrained and lots of bucket brigades.

There are no more kids in the building. Nineteen died.

She was moving her hands, at least. So yes, they are still finding a few people.

One puzzling thing about this quake, there have been no aftershocks recorded at USGS. I'm wondering it this was a major aftershock to the 8.1 quake 12 days earlier. Usually the big ones keep shaking for a week or two.

As for no aftershocks, heard a report on the news that -- for this particular location -- it was common, due to the make-up of the type of ground (filled in lake bed) Mexico City is built on.

They left on Thursday, but I understand they have already arrived in Mexico (That pesky dateline thingy screws with my mind every time)

Japanese rescue team to leave for Mexico

A team including Japanese police officers and firefighters will leave for Mexico to assist in rescue efforts following Tuesday's magnitude 7.1 earthquake.

A powerful earthquake hit central Mexico on Tuesday. More than 200 people have been confirmed dead.
Many people are believed to be trapped under collapsed houses and buildings.

About 70 members of the Japan Disaster Relief Team will leave for Mexico from Narita Airport near Tokyo on Thursday.

The team includes 16 police officers and 4 police dogs.

Takafumi Shimoda, a chief of the Metropolitan Police Department Security Bureau, says the rescue mission is a battle against time. He told members to try hard and urged them to show solidarity to meet the expectations of the Mexican people.

The Tokyo Fire Department is sending 6 firefighters.
Tokyo Fire Department chief Kenichi Murakami attended a sendoff ceremony as the members prepared to leave.
