So Aaron Hernandez had Stage III CTE

https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/09/21/aaron-hernandez-brain-cte-video-photos

News broke Thursday that Boston University researchers found former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez to have a severe case of CTE, the degenerative trauma-based brain disease that has been found in numerous former football players and other athletes.

Hernandez’s brain, which was donated after his death, was examined by Dr. Ann McKee at BU. Dr. McKee diagnosed Herandez with Stage III CTE (out of four) and released images of his brain which show early brain atrophy and “severe deposition” of the protein associated with CTE. The disease is believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head, which is why it often affects football players, hockey players and boxers.

The below video shows what the research team found. Stage III CTE is frequently associated with dementia. Hernandez hung himself in prison in April while serving a life sentence without parole for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013.

I've enjoyed the sport for decades, but I just can't get used to the notion of young men grinding up their brains for my entertainment. Even if they get paid what some people consider to be a lot of money for it.

Now that her boyfriend's little plan to get her money by taking his own life has apparently backfired, she needs to find some way to subsidize her lifestyle.

I suppose CTE also caused him to kill his friend Odin Lloyd, and to be an overall thug throughout his entire life.

I said that it has little to do with the douchebag that he was, or the fact his ex is the one pursuing a case, purely for purposes of money. Is there any doubt her gravy train is running low on fuel, now that her famous, wealthy boyfriend is dead.

But I think the point the other poster was making is that CTE alters behavior which might help explain why he was so violent. Junior Seau suffered from CTE and committed suicide, for example.

w/ CTE was something that was normally only found in a man in his mid to late 60's. I think this was definitely caused by injuries that he suffered from playing football.

CTE is like watching the gladiators, immoral in my mind. The disrespect of the Redskins is another. Add the militarization and I'm through.

Where they talk about Charles Whitman (remember him - Texas Clocktower killer) - where he left a "suicide note" explaining he could not control otherwise weird behaviors - asked to have his brain examined after his death.

Turns out he had a glialblasotoma which probably caused him to kill all those people by pressing on his amygdyla. (Kind of scary McCain has one now). Puts a new spin on human "evil".

Perhaps Trump had too many concussions? (did he play HS football?)

Maybe Hernandez also was more a victim of biology than an evil dick?

Can't explain my last manager at work though (as she was female).

Gronk is, and Hernandez was, redefining the position of TE. Few people can take what those two did/do. I watched every snap the Gators made when he was there. Flat out beast. This isn't surprising.

just like Hernandez, right? And all those millions of former football players over the last century who fed orphans before playing high school football then filled up death row after their killing sprees.
