The GrOPers are only doing Graham/Cassidy for the Koch money.

The Kochs turned off the spigot, emptied the money trough. The Gropers will say anything, do anything to get it turned back on. That's why it all seems so crazy, that they don't care. They don't care about us, they do care about the money. Tax reform (for the Kochs) won't happen without the savings from throwing everyone off health insurance and Medicaid.

IMHO.

In between meetings, Dave Brat, a Virginia Republican representative, predicted dire consequences in next year’s midterm elections should his party fail to deliver on its repeated promises.

“If we don’t get healthcare, none of us are coming back,” he said in a brief interview. “We said for seven years you’re gonna repeal Obamacare. It’s nowhere near repealed.”

It’s the same for tax reform, Brat said: “We don’t get taxes through, we’re all going home. Pack the bags.”

(end snip)

Another reason to kill this bill, aside from the abject cruelty to real people.

there is a chance that they could succeed. It is a cruel cynical deadly game they play.

they don't come through. Some, especially Republicans, enter politics these days as prep for very lucrative influence jobs after, but many just want to stay in DC's inner circles, rubbing elbows with the very powerful and wealthy, and not go home.

Term limits won't work -- modern governance is no more a job for amateurs than law or medicine are.

We really need to make the jobs themselves those of the public servants they're supposed to be. Keep them anchored to the people too many now disregard.

Publicly funded elections. No fundraising (that alone will encourage higher quality people to run for office). No monetizing their connections for 5 years (until their contact lists are obsolete). No private jet ride-alongs and "working" weekends at luxury homes, no meals they don't pay for entirely themselves, no plastic pens for their staff, etc.

Strictly enforced ethics rules in which mere appearance of impropriety is once again actionable. .

Much of this has been done before, and we can do it and more again.
