How Donald Trump Is Splitting the Republican Party in Two

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/first-read/how-donald-trump-splitting-republican-party-two-n803746

By CHUCK TODD, MARK MURRAY and CARRIE DANN at NBC NEWS

"SNIP.........

We now have data to prove that today’s Republican Party is split in two — between a Trump Party and your more traditional GOP.

This week’s NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll asked this question to Republican voters: Do you consider yourself to be more a supporter of Trump or a supporter of the Republican Party? Fifty-eight percent of them answered Trump, and 38 percent said the GOP.

The Trump supporters are more likely to hail from rural areas and to be men, while Republican Party supporters are more likely to be women and residents of the suburbs. And the differences between them — on their views of GOP leaders, immigration and race — are fascinating.

Republicans to vote for Democrats in 2018 (reject Trump)... That is 4.5 million more votes for Dems... that flips the House and the Senate.

or get in the way of some cop while being under the influence, no matter how slight. Or a Mexican immigrant commits some crime, or if some athlete does something to offend the whites, or, .....

Point being, there is no way in hell that 20% switch. They are easily manipulated and any slight, no matter how minor, will allow them cover to vote for the Deplorable.

We need to really learn, the MAJORITY OF SUBURBAN WOMAN VOTED FOR tRUMP. (Yes, I am yelling)

There is no excuse for anyone voting for tRUMP, other than you are a flat our racist. So the VAST majority of Republican women voted for him. You can spend a whole lot of time asking why (some may have just really disliked HRC or were manipulated to think they disliked her) or work on the assumption that the VAST majority will vote for anyone with an R by their name and focus on other areas.

However I personally know white women who voted for Trump, and they don't think of themselves as racists.
They would be appalled if they knew we're calling them "racists" on DU.

So even though you're 100% right on this, we have to find a way to get these voters to flip by NOT CALLING them racists. We have to give them other reasons to vote for our candidates, and don't make it a racial issue.

Calling people names (any names) will not be the way to get them to listen to us.
We are better than the GOP and Faux News people.

How shocking. I'll guess a slight majority of that block is white.

Yet I can't count how many times I've seen threads and articles pushed here trying to deny that the working class white male vote was pivotal to the 2016 outcome. The rural subset is merely a more obsessed, angry and hateful version of the overall trend.

Not sure how Trump is splitting the party when 84% of the "GOP supporters" approve of his job performance.

Anyone who self identifies as Republican these days is basically a lost cause in terms of switchover. Imagine how many outrageous decisions and priorities they've had to ignore or approve of in recent years, while remaining loyal to the party.

Walking around a mall, strip center, grocery, movie theater, etc.
In my head, I'm seeing Trump Voter here, Hillary one there, non voter there, etc.
And, the saddest ones that I see are the white female Trump voters.
They elected Trump.
I try to wrap my head around that.
I expected more.
I expected them to tell their husbands to screw off and vote for her.

They make me ill.

However. Whatever way that can be done. Right now, that pretty much means voting for Democrats.

The more #45 divides the GOP, the more vulnerable they become. Let them deal with their own "Ralph Nader-Jill Stein problem" in their heavily gerrymandered districts.

And the Russian hacking issue MUST be addressed ASAP. Mueller may shed some light on that in the coming weeks.

Like tRump's greasy, orange self, running as a third-party of his creation (hoping that Mueller finds the firing handle to 45's ejection seat before 2020).

That SOB needs applause or he congeals into a greasy spot. He's not going to just walk away from all this.

Stranger things.
