Justice Neil Gorsuch Accused of Campaigning for Senator Mitch McConnell

That tweet links to an Associated Press article in the Daily Camera. The article focuses on a speech Gorsuch gave in Louisville, Kentucky as to why it’s important that judges have a limited and conservative role in deciding what the law is.

Louisville is McConnell’s hometown and he was in the audience for the speech–a few feet away from the Supreme Court Justice. The speech was given at the University of Louisville, which is McConnell’s alma matter. And, before addressing the crowd, Gorsuch was introduced by the Senate’s top Republican.

McConnell said, of Gorsuch, “I could not have been happier [when he was nominated.] I knew he’d be great for our country.”

Gorsuch’s appearance with McConnell is apparently one of many as two are touring the Bluegrass State together. Later that same night, the pair held an event at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

The article referenced by Pieklo doesn’t explicitly refer to the Gorsuch-McConnell statewide team-up as campaigning, however it does go on to suggest the political nature of the joint show-boating:

Congress may be ablle to set the number, but I doubt anyone will allow court-packing by expanding the number of justices seated.

Hell, McConnell isn't running for anything at the moment -- his term doesn't end until 2020.

I don't know if a sitting member of Congress has ever introduced a speech by a Supreme Court Justice, but I wouldn't be shocked to find out that it had happened.

into nothing more than an ethical joke, why stop there. Gorsuch is seeming to be the ethical equivalent of trump. I am sure the ABA must be very proud of his behavior. These scum are destroying the long held core values of our government

I think he's part of Russia's role in the election and he was packaged up and ready to go if all went as planned.. and it did.

I don't know what the dems could have done, but they sure didn't raise much stink about it. There was more outrage here on DU than the dems expressed publicly. And then Obama kept quiet about the Russian collusion, so he wouldn't be accused of making the race political. WTF? This is why I'm so angry with the dems. They are partly responsible for this clusterfuck.

I went to a few rallies to support hearings for Garland.. poorly attended. We should have been marching on Washington by the millions when Congress stonewalled our President. As usual, the media didn't see the importance of that story to have it in the news cycle every single day, as it should have been...

accepted the position knowing he was only chosen because of the deplorable behaviour of the GOP And the illegitimacy of his employment. Not to mention Russian meddling that usurped the will of the people.
