...so my heritage says that's an enemy flag, an it can only be held up proudly as a trophy of those who defeated it.

...that's bullshit spinning. Taking a knee is has nothing to do with being against the US flag. It is simply a way for one to protest what they see as an injustice. Athletes have been taking a stand forever - Jesse Owens (30s Olympics), Muhammad Ali (60 Viet Nam war), Tommie Smith and John Carlos (60s olympic), Kareem Abdul Jabbar (social justice warrior since the 60s), Colin Kaepernick.
