49ers York: Dotard In Chiefs comments callous and offensive
A year after he strongly backed Colin Kaepernicks decision to kneel for the national anthem, 49ers CEO Jed York delivered a statement Saturday condemning the comments made by President Donald Trump at a rally in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday night.
Trump told his audience that players who didnt stand for the anthem should be fired, and said he wishes an owner would say, Get that son of a bitch off the field right now! to those who protested.
Said York: The callous and offensive comments made by the President are contradictory to what this great country stands for. Our players have exercised their rights as United States citizens in order to spark conversation and action to address social injustice. We will continue to support them in their peaceful pursuit of positive change in our country and around the world. The San Francisco 49ers will continue to work toward bringing communities, and those who serve them, closer together.
The 49ers have only player, safety Eric Reid, who has been kneeling during the anthem this season. Reid knelt along with Kaepernick last season, and he resumed his protest during the 49ers third preseason game in Minnesota last month.
