"Super Bowl-quality quarterback available and hired?"

That could be on any of many communities' front page!

He's not a good quarterback. When the 49ers were good, it was because they had an amazing defense and a great running game.

The Broncos weren't exactly upset when Peyton Manning retired. They didn't win the Super Bowl because of Manning. They won because they had an amazing defense.

he is not playing today because of his political actions, not because he is not a good player.

The vast majority of NFL players have never been in a Super Bowl. Colin Kaepernick has, as quarterback. He's 29 and no retirement-age Peyton Manning.

When the teams see 'taking a knee' is not a problem - this player won't be a problem to hire.

He has lost a lot of weight and had shoulder surgery and has not really thrown since.

He will get an offer, but I doubt it will be"good"

He doesn't deserve either in my book. He can get hired again or not. I don't care. He's a mediocre player who is an activist in service to a good cause. If he never plays again I won't lose a moments sleep. Same if he does play.

because he took a knee. I've see older and less qualified NFL players get grabbed by a team minutes after being released. This was a blacklisting and now it's come back to bite the NFL in the ass.

He might play again or not,but that doesn't change the reason he is not playing now.

But ISTM there's a real question about his skill-set now that everybody has seen a couple of years of film on him and figured out how to defend against him. And he may be developing a case of the "yips" after that line went to heck. Essentially, he hasn't cratered like RG3, but I get the impression he's not really a legitimate starter at this point in his career. With that qualifier out of the way, there are a lot of guys in the NFL listed as backup quarterback who could be replaced by a coffee machine with no real drop-off. I have to think somebody like Carolina would be a good landing spot for him as I get the impression he's basically a poor man's Cam Newton at this point and they should be able to plug him in without completely redesigning the offense.

As a Seahawk fan (division rival) I can claim that my team kind of "broke" Colin Kaepernak. He never really recovered from "The Tip" that won the playoff game against us a few years back.

There is also some talk that Kaep refuses to take the smaller salary/contract that a backup earns.

Beyond that, though, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he is being blackballed by the owners. He actually tried out for the Seahawks, and wasn't signed, perhaps because of salary considerations. We don't have a controversy at starting QB, though and we do have a good backup already signed.

At this point I'm not following the sport closely enough to make a serious argument about the specifics with much credibility. But my experience in the past is that the starters we're talking about are basically placeholders and aren't the guys we're talking about as the future of the franchise. If my limited understanding is correct, it's at least plausible that the investment isn't considered worth the return. And while it's true that most of the league is now doing what Kaepernick started, we are talking about an organization which doesn't mind hiring domestic abusers and drunk drivers as long as they're heterosexual, can pass a drug screen, and don't make the news for anything besides football.

And I think there was a 14-2 split on TDs to interceptions. I have access to all the games every week and I watch a lot of football. There is some really shitty QB play in the league right now. He's better than Mike Glennon and Blake Bortles both of whom are starting. Irrespective of the Jags win today, Bortles is a dog.
