What We Need Is A Blackout/Brownout In This Country....

We talk about our crumbling infrastructure and precarious grid - we have another infrastructure and grid that holds this country together - that of the Black and Brown People that serve this country in all kinds of jobs.

If for one day all Black and Brown Americans stayed home instead of going to their jobs - essentially calling it a Blackout or Brownout - it would sure illustrate to the Politicians in DC just how important Black and Brown Lives matter.

I live in a white minority state. Having a brownout here would be like a general strike if women were part of it. Without us, it would just be an inconvenience.

I wasn't thinking women with this as I like the symbolism of calling it a Blackout/Brownout. Given the racism that Trump has brought to the surface - I was focusing on that aspect for such a protest.

6. The reality is, many Americans can't afford to forgo a day's pay.

While this sounds like a good idea, the vast majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Going without a paycheck is simply not an option for millions of POC.
