(7,281 posts)Ive been poor for most of my life, Im in my mid forties and finally have made it to lower middle class. I grew up with food stamps, powdered milk, govt. cheese, free lunches. Our dessert was sugar on a piece of bread. I dont struggle so much any more, but there are weeks where I have to live cheap in order to pay my bills. I have a new car, but it was the cheapest on the lot and I needed something reliable for my job as I am required to travel up to 4 hours away. I help support my mother who is raising my two nephews, she has cancer and is on the ACA. I help everyone I can, my family, my employees, the Vet in the wheelchair that stops by work once a week and panhandles. Why would you want to make me poor again?

(6,640 posts)me too. And my father had a full time job in the military and was a war vet. He was an NCO with several years in. And my dad, I'm sure would be just fine with allowing someone to kneel during the National Anthem. I grew up a military brat and I saw the destruction that war brings. Standing up for the National Anthem or the Flag is just FOR SHOW. If you really love this country and its vets, STOP HAVING WARS. Especially those wars with nuclear weapons or last for 15 years.

I don't think the Trumpsters will have a lot of luck with this. Fox network depends on sports, esp football for revenue so they kinda shot themselves in the foot.

(14,249 posts)I hope you're right, but I don't now every time I felt so in the past, I've been proven wrong. His country has an amazing tolerance for ugly, racist, misogynistic behavior - at least if it's coming from a white so-called billionaire.

Looks like my post made someone have a sad. Prolific poster, that Post Removed!
I'm sticking to my point though, as all these owners, all richer than the buffoon claims to be, have had to step out over him! You inconvenience the super rich and you pay!

Did you forget he made that statement in AL?

(12,647 posts)Both Strange and Moore are making the non-evilangelical business-oriented GOP in Alabama very, very nervous. Especially those Dixiecrat/Reagan educated republicans.
The end-timer out in the boonies GOP in-laws are voting for Moore, but the GOP in-laws and their acquaintances (including several in Tuscaloosa who know a lot of Democrats working at the UofA) living in towns and cities are seriously considering voting for the Democrat. Strange and Moore are that bad...
BTW, did you know that Sabin doesn't let his team on the field until after the National Anthem is over? It's more important to him to keep his guys loose and focused on the game, rather than stand in place for two minutes getting stiff for no real reason, because most people don't know how to stand at attention properly and most of the fans are still getting refreshments.

(14,565 posts)Those forums are overrun by loud right wingers. They've backed Trump on everything and in arrogant delighted fashion. No shame at all.
But gad did it change yesterday. Silence. That's the only way to describe it. I looked for threads. They weren't there. This time Trump finally veered into something they couldn't support.
It won't be long lasting or impact their overall impression of him. That I'm certain of.
The results proposed here never threaten logic, given the way the other side thinks.
But it's a good blip in terms of thwarting the upturn in Trump's approval rating.
