A couple hundred people showed up in support of Black Lives Matter. The police blocked the streets in all four directions from the square to prevent any traffic going by, but people went to all four blockades to hold up signs. (below) It was kind of cool hearing people honking in support from every direction.
We ended up marching outside the perimeter a few blocks, staying on the sidewalk so the cops couldn't arrest anyone.
If you look on top the buildings (below) you can see police keeping an eye on things. They planned ahead enough to put a temporary canopy tent up on the one on the right to give themselves some shade.
There were also about a half dozen counter-protesters (and a dog). Spell check is once again not their friend. (below)
The guys below were just "curious".
And finally, a couple of the cuter protesters

(7,809 posts)You'd think they were embarrassed to be doing that.
They should be.

(7,528 posts)From a little googling it seems to be a misspelling from "Natzionale" party, possibly as appearing in the movie Inglorious Basterds.

(1,244 posts)city in the U.S. (after all, places like Berkeley, CA and Boulder, CO have a bit more of a liberal reputation), but this is a true-blue community, and it has been for several years. For example, during the 2008 presidential election, President Obama easily carried St. Louis, and 82.7 percent of St. Louis County residents voted Democrat in 2012."

Metro St. Louis has plenty of wing-nuts, but they are too afraid to live in the city.

(14,811 posts)Apparently there were several death threats posted on the Indivisible FB page, some deplorables threatening to run us down with trucks & others threatening to "clean their guns".
I thought there was an unusually large police presence for a peaceful demonstration, but I just thought it was because some of the protests in St. Louis had some violence & vandalism. There have been several other protests here over the summer that were largely ignored by the police.
