was an admirer of Noam Chomsky, and had made arrangements to meet with Chomsky when he got back from the war. He never had a chance to do that. He was shot in the head at close range by fellow US troops. The government tried to cover it up by initially claiming that he was killed by enemy gunfire. The clothes and body armor Tillman was wearing were destroyed before an independent investigation could examine them.
