From the perspective of a war orphan: Standing for the Natonal Anthem is not patriotic

Watching the plane as your father's coffin is unloaded coming back from Vietnam is patriotic,

listening to Taps at his funeral knowing he will never come back is patriotic

living a childhood when others' fathers take them fishing, to a ball game etc
knowing you're not going because you don't have a dad is patriotic

thinking just briefly in the back of your mind on your wedding day;
"if only dad could see me now"...is patriotic

Seeing your first child being born and wishing your dad was there for
his baptism is patriotic

spending a lifetime with that momentary wistfulness and longing to be able to discuss
just every little things with your parent, but can't is patriotic

and why is that, because you feel the pain of your father's ultimate sacrifice
so some asshat can spout off about not stand during a 3 minute song

that's all I have to say...FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!!!

I can't imagine how difficult that was and is for you. IMO, Twitler lost the right to ever speak about patriotism when he evaded the draft multiple times due to imaginary bone spurs.
