I couldn't do it.

I went to our high school to watch a volleyball match and when they did the obligatory "please rise for our national anthem" I couldn't. I ain't doing that no more. Not until the orange smurf in the white house either apologizes for his racist crap or leaves. The KGB* installed this regime, it aint my government and I owe it no respect at all.

* yes I know it's the FSB. Whatever.

I don't give a shit anymore. I'm going to speak up and speak out and protest at every opportunity. I cannot do nothing. I cannot sit and wait for our "leaders" to act.

I wear a Hillary or Obamacare button everyday. So far (since election) I've only gotten positive comments. But I am ready if anybody gives me any crap 😀

The Flag isn't Trump's, and it's not the Government's. it's yours and mine and every citizen's. It represents our country for good and ill. It also represents our political system which allows us to make changes in policy and leadership. When you reject the flag, you hand it like a gift to the folks like Trump who will use it as a symbol for "real" Americans.

I'll defend to the death your right to protest it, but I'll tell you that you're wrong to do so.

Everybody has the right to decide for themselves what the flag does and doesn't represent.

...because of the "-olatry" part of your word - as in idolatry - but since I had never seen the word before, I googled/wikied it and thought that it would be helpful to have an idea of what you were referring to.

From the wikipedia entry: "Vexillology is the scientific study of the history, symbolism and usage of flags or, by extension, any interest in flags in general.[1] The word is a synthesis of the Latin word vexillum "flag" and the Greek suffix -logia "study".

No law compels any particular behavior with regard to the flag, and no morality that I will acknowledge.

The flag symbolizes you, me and the OPer, and the freedoms we enjoy, sure, but it also symbolizes every atrocity committed or allowed to continue in the name of the country. How any one person chooses to respond on any given day is his/her own business.
