just an anecdote - was listening to a Boston sports post-game call in show re the NFL protests

listening in just now - Some of the host's statements

"My Trump vote was not pro Trump as much as anti-Hillary"

"The left leaning media has it all wrong on this"

"If I were to take a poll 70 percent of the country supports Trump and are against the disrespectful act of the players kneeling during the anthem."

This is just a tidbit of the utter ignorance of what is going on out there.

5. I've been saying a lot lately that there are a lot of brainwashed people in this country.

It is very sad. They have completely lost the ability to think critically and are very uninformed. That makes them very susceptible to propaganda, even glaringly malevolent propaganda. Even people who hate Trump and think he's an idiot regularly get trolled by his outlandish behavior and cannot see it for what it really is: a blatant and cynical attempt to manipulate the political debate and maintain his support.

than not.

In my 61 years, it is hard to think of many people for whom I have lower regard.

10. Oh, yeah. He is obviously a terrible person. But somehow about 35% of our people still can't see it.

Can you imagine how incredibly lost in lies and deceit you would have to be to see Trump in a favorable light? But that's where many people are right now. I know a lot of people here do not go to Facebook, and I don't blame them, but I still do and I read Trump supporters and sometimes respond to them. They are impervious to reason and logic and when presented with truth will usually cry, "Fake news!"

I think this has been a potential problem in America for a while now. We've been susceptible to lies from our politicians for a long time, and most of them lie to some degree or another. It was probably just a matter of time before some sociopath with some nefarious powerful connections came along and exploited that weakness.
