I catch glimpses while I dress, and I always look for Eugene Robinson.
Anyway his story about hugging two black women bugged me. Since I knew nothing about the movie Indixnt know what Kasich was trying to say.
So I just read up on the movie. It's clear that he was saying "look at me, I'm sensitive to black issues."
Right, watching a movie gives you credibility. <rolling eyeballs>

(32,973 posts)He was one of Newt Gingrich's' lieutenants in the early 1990s & the contract on America. When he was out of political office 2001 to 2007, he had a show on Fox News & subbed for Bill OReilly. He was the managing director of Lehman Brothers in Columbus & managed to talk the Republicans who run this state into putting state employee & teachers pension funds into Lehman Brothers accounts, shortly after when Lehman collapsed, alot of Ohioans lost portions of their pensions & retirement $. He didn't give his commission back.
One of his first acts as governors was to propose& get passed SB5, a bill that eliminated collective bargaining rights for civil servants like cops, teachers, other state employees. The Ohio public collected signatures& overturned that law in mere months. Near same time, he was giving a speech and took time out to call a cop who gave him a speeding ticket "an idiot"...sound like the apricot hellbeast?
He gets $ from the power utilities, & lessens ecology standards.
There is a long history he has here in Ohio, little of it is good.
In total fairness I will say, he does dress very well, his suits fit & he has a good haircut.
He is a bad choice in many ways.

No.

(28,394 posts)He works very hard at portraying the average, moderate, guy-next-door, but is really a right-winger. He just seems moderate when compared to trump, cruz, et al.
This is from an article from the primaries, but it's the first thing that popped up on Google:
The people in Ohio who know him are stunned that he has been allowed to get away with calling himself a moderate, said Sandy Theis, executive director of the liberal thinktank Progress Ohio.
He is a climate change denier, he has had a scandal in his heavily championed support of charter schools, unemployment has gone down but poverty has risen in the state, we have a terrible infant mortality rate for African American babies I could go on. Maybe the middle has moved so far to the right that there is no genuine moderate in the Republican race anymore, she said.

Pretty much sums him up.
