Why I Admire Anthony Weiner

"On Monday, former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner was sentenced to 21 months in prison for having lewd exchanges with a 15-year-old girl on Skype and Snapchat. The sentencing was just the latest act in Mr. Weiner’s nightmarish downfall fueled by his compulsive sexting habit.

Mr. Weiner cried as he pleaded guilty to one count of transferring obscene material to a minor, a crime that carried up to 10 years in prison. “I acted not only unlawfully but immorally, and if I had done the right thing, I would not be standing before you today,” he told Judge Denise L. Cote in Manhattan.

“I was a very sick man for a very long time,” he said. Indeed, his behavior fits a commonly understood definition of addiction, which is persistent engagement in a behavior despite negative consequences. And those consequences were epic — loss of his congressional office in 2011, the implosion of his mayoral bid in 2013, public humiliation, the dissolution of his marriage and accusations of jeopardizing Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid."

The probe into his lewd behavior found the laptop that had emails on it which had been undeclared. It gave Comey reason to write the letter. And allowed doubts to foster leading up to the election.

clicking the link and discovering that the title was quoted.

It's a moronic article, anyhow. I can't imagine admiring anything about a man who sends photos of his willy to underaged people. Not a chance. Crying in front of the judge doesn't change that.

I rarely click links to other sites from DU posts. I think a word or some indicator from OP that this is an article published somewhere else is not too much to ask.

Especially a story as stupid as this. I'd sure as hell never want to risk people thinking I wrote such a moronic thing. I write plenty of moronic things on my own - I don't need credit for other peoples things.

Undoubtedly there had to be much disagreement in her family — her being Arab and him being Jewish — and then for the marriage to turn into such a humiliation.

Hope there are not a lot of "I told you so-ers" in her family.

I had a lot of sympathy the first time around. But the second time? Not so much. Plus, his toxicity bled right into the Clinton campaign. Huma should have been offered a choice of either getting rid of Weiner and working in the campaign, or not working on the campaign and sticking with this creep.

to the person they chose to share their life with. It's not an unreasonable thing to do.

The fact that Anthony chose to squander that chance is entirely his fault, not Huma's.

Also, it would have been the height of hypocrisy for the Clinton campaign to have issued Huma the ultimatum that you just proposed. Or have our memories really gotten that short?

Weiner's computers got searched, Clinton's emails were found on them and all that got us to Comey's statement.

So yes Humana should have been rejected as part of the vetting that should have gone on when Clinton's campaign team was put together. Precisely because of the history.
