Manka Dhingra — a King County Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, award-winning PTSA mom, domestic violence advocate, and community leader — is running for the Republican-held State Senate seat in the 45th Legislative District, east of Seattle. In her role as a deputy prosecutor, Manka leads programs that restore the lives of veterans, young people, and those suffering from mental illness, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and crime. A longtime advocate for women and immigrant rights, Manka has worked to protect all people from violence and discrimination. As a state senator, Manka will be a champion for our schools and ensure that students are getting the world-class education they deserve.
The 45th Legislative District is located in the high-tech suburbs of Kirkland, Redmond, Woodinville, Duvall, and Sammamish. In 2016, 45th Legislative District voters gave Donald Trump only 28% of the presidential vote, and they overwhelmingly supported ballot measures to increase the minimum wage and expand gun safety laws. This Democratic-leaning district of 100,000 voters will determine who controls the Washington State Senate and the West Coast this November.
