trump is still deciding whether he will suspend the Jones Act.
Meanwhile in PR they are bagging their dead in garbage bags.
Hope the fools who vote for the incompetent orange clown regret it for the rest of their dumb fucking lives.

(17,425 posts)they have 2 options.
1) Go directly to San Juan and pay a large tarrif, or
2) Go to the US mainland, offload onto a US flagged ship, which then goes to Puerto Rico.
LuckyCharms
(17,425 posts)and going to the US mainland and offloading would take too long.
This is why the Jones Act needs to be suspended...so they can get the help they need from foreign countries.

(17,425 posts)to get goods to PR in time. This is why it needs to be suspended. Trump said today that there are shippers who don't want the act suspended for PR, even though he suspended it for Houston and Florida.
He's Satan.

(16,858 posts)Trump would not suspend the Jones Act for PR! His whole BS spiel regarding PR was that we couldn't "drive trucks" there like in TX and FL. That's leaves the water and the air so why deliberately hinder relief efforts by refusing to lift a finger, when you had no problem doing so for states that trucks could get to? It reeks of deliberate obstinance on the part of Trump.

(2,770 posts)I want Anderson Cooper in waders in the streets of San Juan. I want the evening news anchors reporting from Puerto Rico. I want someone from Today, GMA and the CBS morning show on island.

(51,308 posts)I've seen Lester Holt there.
I've seen tons of coverage on this story so I'm not sure how you're missing it.

(2,770 posts)I tuned in to CNN today in the early afternoon. I don't ordinarily watch news in the middle of the day unless there's an emergency story. I usually tune in to MSNBC rather than CNN. There was no coverage when I checked in the afternoon. I forget what anchor had the first show, but it was followed by Wolf Blitzer who was in-studio. As he began, he introduced a panel to discuss the new tax plan.
On MSNBC, there has been coverage but it's been done by local and/or lesser known reporters. I haven't seen reporting by Lester Holt but, again, I'm glad he's there.
My memories after Katrina were of almost non-stop coverage. Anderson Cooper was there in waders. I believe Brian Williams was as well. I don't think Puerto Rico has been ignored completely, but I think the reporting has been less intense and generally left to reporters with less star power. More recognizable faces draw more attention.

(23,524 posts)The reporter is 3 minutes into the video about post hurricane Puerto Rico. She has gotten out of San Juan to interview people. She looks very upset about the lack of supplies. She is trying her best to look professional. My question is how can the reporter get around to interview people in areas where they aren't sending water and people are drinking non potable water? WTF???? If she can get out there why the hell can't military vehicles?? We all know why.
