Latest lie about tax reform: new cars for everyone!

Trump's National Economic Council Director has no clue about actual economies. He claims that we can all buy new cars or renovate our kitchens for $1000. On Twitter, Judd Legum calls him out quite effectively:

If you click-through to the actual video excerpt, you will see Gary Cohn himself saying that with $1000 in tax savings, "they can buy a new car; they can renovate their kitchen..."

They are lying criminals, every single one of them.

1. Last time I saw a new car for $1000 was in 1968. I think it was a basic Volkswagon Beetle.

I also think that was the last time you could renovate your kitchen for $1000.
My folks spent $2500 for new counters and countertop, taking down part of the wall for a pass-through, cabinet upgrades, a new double sink, and stove back in 1975 - and they did their own painting and carefully laying down a floating vinyl floor to protect the original 1911 flooring - in what would typically be considered a "kitchen remodel" now days.

$1000 might pay down the credit cards a bit or pay off an outstanding bill, or be put into an emergency fund. As for something more tangibly useful, it won't even pay for a new stove, refrigerator or house-wide HVAC system - maybe a contractor to come out and fix a bit of electrical or plumbing for a window AC unit or water heater, but that's about it.

And for more than half the "middle class", it will just be shy of just one month's rent or mortgage.

Shows you how out of touch wealthy GOP'ers are.
