If it can happen to our citizens there, it can happen to us anywhere.

Puerto Rico is Louisiana on Steroids

Reminds me of the book, Five Days at Memorial in LA. They like Memorial had to ventilate their patients by hand and in teams, dangerous yet necessary. Yet Memorial only had to do this for five days, though there was no time table for their rescue. PR is on day nine, little help in sight for the 11 out of 69 hospitals functioning.

LA was the result of gross incompetence from the top down. PR the same. Yet you must add our racist in chief to PR. He had no clue they were US citizens, and they just don't matter to him. These are the people that he swore to protect with his hand on the bible at his inauguration. Eight days he waited while going off on racist rants. Eight days he waited as other countries sent aid. Eight days and he calls out PR for the deficit they run as their people die, we see your priorities mr. president, it is about money not people as you rush to push tax reform that will save your family billions, each and everyone of them. mr president you and your ilk are committing genocide in Puerto Rico and the sad thing is you are gleeful about that fact.

So, it can happen there, that island that is surrounded by a really really big ocean and it will happen on the mainland as well with the blessing of the GOP as they turn their collective heads and enrich themselves. Who will be next to die mr president, who is next? Hm, who will be next? You have been trying to kill millions with your dumpcare. You want to kill us with defunding Medicaid. You have your strike team, ICE that you weaponized to rip families apart. All the while your family hires "illegals" to work your vineyards and golf courses, da ya pay 'em massa? Perhaps bribe them with immunity from deportation and at a moments notice recind that promise. Who is next mr. president? Black people? Women? Muslim...oh wait you already covered that one. Jew? LGBT? POC? What is next, mr.president? Internment camps? Slavery by another Name. Forced Incarceration? I guess we, under you will become the United White Country of Racist Supremacist Males. Heil Hitler you useless piece of shit.

Against him! No FEMA, no financial aid, you're on your own California. Or if Nirth Korea nukes the west coast because of his taunts, oh well you're in your own because you didn't vote for him.

He is that evil, petty and vindictive.

In a major earthquake hundreds of thousands could suddenly be homeless. Even the U.S. operating at peak efficiency under someone like Barack Obama would be challenged to react. No water. No electricity. No freeways. No rail. Damaged piers. Thousands injured.

We’ll be on our own for a little bit no matter who is in charge. Make an earthquake kit and keep it updated.

I not only have detailed plans and a fantastic earthquake kit and preparations, but I have given them to my family and neighbors as Christmas gifts (that is where/when I got mine from). I was a teacher and we had drills all the time. I learned a lot by watching videos from Japan. If you are in a room you should not go under a desk to protect yourself, you should crouch next to it since when the roof drops it actually creates a little space like a right angle and protects you best. I even have hand crank and solar powered radios, lights, cell chargers and keep my land lines as insurance since cells can go out.

That was what the OP focused on. How would you tell them to have prepared better? What is your opinion on a racist president that ignored them? They are as much US citizens as we are.

You say...

We’ll be on our own for a little bit no matter who is in charge.

It was 8 days before he even responded because he does not see them as US citizens, their skin color and heritage does not align with his white supremacy.
