the obviously false claim that Flynn lied to Pence and was fired for that.

Flynn did not lie to Pence. Pence was in on the whole Russia conspiracy from the start. In fact, he ended up on the ticket because he was Manafort's pick for VP.

Besides, he was notified about Flynn's Russian connections by Rep. Elijah Cummings, who sent him a letter about Flynn's being compromised, weeks before (according to administration claims) Pence supposedly found out about Flynn's ties to Russia. Furthermore, Pence himself was present for at least one or two questionable meetings with Russian operatives.I

The GOP is trying desperately to keep Pence as a fallback president if Trump goes down, by creating plausible deniability to isolate Pence from the Russian tangle, painting him as an innocent dupe rather than a co-conspirator. I want our side to stop propping up that false narrative and start identifying him as a key figure, up to his neck in the whole conspiracy.
