Donald Trump is Still Golfing while

The Mayor of San Juan, PR, is wading through waist-deep water to reach out to victims of a hurricane.

Aside from the obvious, that Trump is still standing is evidence that no benevolent deity exists. Such a deity would have struck him down long ago.

Maybe there's no benevolent deity to smite his ugly orange ass, but I keep hoping that sooner or later his dogma will get run over by his karma. My own concept of "God," the existence of whom I doubt - at last in the form of a discrete, sentient entity who oversees and controls what's going on in the world - would be more in the nature of a Force that doesn't react to specific people or events. Some philosophers had a notion of a "watchmaker" god who made the whole thing, turned it on and now just sits back and watches it run without interfering.

Maybe that's it. I have no idea, and I don't worry much about it. Whatever "god" is or is not, it's clear that no supernatural entity is going to do anything about Trump, just as he/she/it didn't do anything about Nero, Caligula, Vlad the Impaler, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot or any other bad and dangerous leader - except, of course, that eventually they all became dead. Maybe that's how it works. But whether there's a watchmaker god or no god, for now we have to deal with Trump ourselves.

any personal suffering."

I'm not sure you are aware what Alzheimer's is. There can be absolutely no claim that people who suffer from it, don't personally suffer.
