Puerto Rico: "There's a medical center down here & everyone that was in the ICU, died. Everyone"

NelsonMRosario

My dad lives on the island. I shared the President's response with him this morning. He wanted me to share one anecdote in response. 1/

For context, my dad is helping with rebuilding right now, and has friends in the govt, elected and appointed, on the island. 2/

After I told him what the President said he went quiet and said "Wow." A second later he says "I'm gonna share one detail with you. One." 3/

"There's a medical center down here, and everyone that was in the Intensive Care Unit, died. Everyone. That's just one detail." 4/

experienced. Would he start a war every bit as bloody as what we saw under Bush II? Absolutely. The ass stated that his building was the tallest in Manhattan after the WTC collapse -- you know, cause he's just so great. That mentality is just...I don't even have words. THAT is what we are dealing with now. He also doesn't care about America or its political integrity at all, he's willing to create all sorts of chaos and racial violence, and is quite willing to sell out the country to Putin, and recklessly deals with foreign powers that could kill millions (noko, Iran, etc) for his own ego.

This is the first six months.

Nelson Rosario referenced this charity as a good way to contribute to relief efforts in Puerto Rico :

"Unidos": A Hurricane Relief Fund for Hurricane Maria Victims in Puerto Rico
http://hispanicfederation.org/media/press_releases/a_hurricane_relief_fund_for_hurricane_maria_victims_in_puerto_rico/

(snip)
A coalition of New York City civic leaders including Mayor Bill DeBlasio, U.S. Congress Members Nydia Velázquez and Adriano Espaillat, and New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito have joined the Hispanic Federation and its partnering community based organizations to launch “Unidos” (United), a hurricane relief fund to help those impacted by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The fund will be managed by the Hispanic Federation, a leading Latino nonprofit organization with more than 25 years of experience in providing disaster-relief assistance to Latinos in the United States and Latin America. One hundred percent of the proceeds will help hurricane victims and the recovery efforts through fellow community and civic organizations in Puerto Rico.

Charity Navigator rates the Hispanic Federation about as high as it gets:

only 1 way to calculate the real death toll from this. They will have to add up all the deaths and the get an average of people who passed during this time period from previous years and subtract that from the total.

With morgues and funeral homes closed, no medical examiner to declare someone dead, no power to refrigerate many of the remains. People are burying their own dead, without a death certificate.
