tom petty -- buried treasure

after not listening to radio in eons, i got siriusxm with my new car when my 16 year-old sentra finally bit the dust.

among the many stations was tom petty radio, which unsurprisingly played a lot of tom petty songs.

what was surprising is that, unlike many other "single artist" channels (bruce springsteen, billy joel, the beatles, and many others) this one included a weekly show hosted by tom petty himself.

not an interview, just tom petty being the dj. spinning records he wanted to play, telling stories about the artists, etc.

this is a guy who can do anything he wants or nothing at all, and he decides that he'd like to sit in a tiny radio station studio and spin discs for an empty room and an open mike and just talk to his fans.

i think that's pretty cool.

eta: "buried treasure" is the name of the program he hosts.
