i just got up. my routine is to go to the - what used to be the msnbc page - nbc news now, and watch rachel maddow while i get ready for work. these are the "politics" headlines available at this moment:
where's the president's name? it shows up one time. romney, FOUR headlines start with his name.
notice the story about the disclosure bill that the republicans blocked: "Senate blocks action..." no, motherfuckers, it was the REPUBLICANS in the senate who blocked that bill!
this is not the fault of the democrats. this is corporatism. not the news. they don't care about us or the country.
i feel sick.
also i am so tired of democrats bashing democrats for what REPUBLICANS do. it's like we get mad at democrats because they haven't succeeded at training a wave not to hit the beach.

(28,789 posts)it tells me that military defense contractors should not be in charge of delivering the news to the american people.
it all boils down to greed that defeats every decent impulse in some people. boundless greed that will destroy the nation, the planet, the human race.

(4,452 posts)"Consider the source" In Soviet Russia they understood that what was presented on the officially accepted media was nothing but propaganda, the official view, in no way connected to reality.
We on the other hand still tend to believe that we have an "independent" media. How many people in this country know of the CIA infiltration of virtually every newsroom to manage the story of the "war" in Vietnam?
Beyond that the job of commercial media is not to provide you with good information but to provide viewers to the advertisers.
it still makes me sick. it is not portrayed that way. history turns on deceit. to me that is wrong.

(128,905 posts)Liberals and Progressives do NOT own any major media outlets. And it's not like they don't have the money to do so. RW lunatics have a strategy that relies on negativity, fear, and hate. It's like a narcotic drug to them and they are addicted to it. And the way they can project it and spread it is through the media. I.e., they are cold-hearted SOBs.
Liberals and Progressives are more empathetic and prefer a different strategy, and thus you have what you have.
Stop blaming Democrats for "messaging". That is a RW talking point, backed up by their corporate media, designed to stir up discord.
Liberals/Progressives DO have the power of the internet and at this point, that is where the messaging has been established and is passed on to friends, family, and interested parties - whether through progressives blogs, forums, and videos, tweets, Facebook, and email. And if that's not enough, just pick up the damn phone. Everyone must do their part to bypass the RW lamestream media and get the message out.

(10,091 posts)Clearly GE is desperate to change the subject.
I certainly wouldn't blame the Democratic message machine, especially considering that the last week has probably been the most effective message delivery the Democratic Party has executed since Clinton/Gore were running in '92.

(28,789 posts)but they have so much power to control the message. i am totally NOT blaming the democratic message machine. just the opposite in fact.
