The shooting started at 10:05pm. Police got to the 32nd floor at 10:17pm.

That sounds pretty damn fast to me.

I was watching the local news as it happened. There were erroneous reports of a gunman coming down the escalator at New York New York, somebody wandering around the MGM Grand shooting the place up, and people taking cover at the Tropicana. I asked hubby why we weren't hearing about stuff happening at the Luxor or the Excalibur (both easier to reach from Mandalay Bay than the other casino/hotels).

The police and ambulances reached the area with impressive speed as far as I'm concerned.
