every tinpot dictator that comes along thinks they can reinvent war to make it 1)winnable and 2) low death counts.

we live in the shadow of WWII. every war after is just an attempt by the U.S. to recapture that era at the cost of millions of lives.

it's like a drug addict always chasing after that feeling from the first high.
