Has anyone thought about what Trump's crazy followers will do if he is removed?

Last edited Fri Oct 13, 2017, 09:41 AM - Edit history (1)

Not to mention what he will do, will he use his own money to go out and stir up his followers to violence? Will we truly see a civil war started by Steve Bannon, Steven Miller with Donald Trump as their mouthpiece?

Trump will be furious if he is removed, even if he chooses to resign he will be impossible to control. His diatribe will continue against a free press, minorities, women and Obama's policies. He is more than a loose cannon, he is a complete mental case with a bully pulpit whether he is in office or not.

Will he start a Fox on steroids? How will all of this impact 2018 if he is removed? I started thinking about this yesterday. We have never seen anything like this, Nixon went pretty quietly in the night, this guy has no intention of doing that, he loves the crowds and the limelight so much he can't.

Short of threatening him with legal action against his kids and his company I don't see what we have to use to shut him up when he is gone.

If removing Donald Trump incites an armed rebellion then so be it. Those unAmerican cretins WILL be taken down... and I expect that some of them will even rue the day they made weapons possession so easy that even we "Libruls" could get them.

Maybe a public execution?

Bury him and let the ants eat his face off ... on pay per view.

Seriously here, people who think the "best thing for the country" is the sitting POTUS being imprisoned are deranged. That would be the end of our country, from that point on both parties would spend all of their time attempting to get their opponents thrown in jail.

47. You cannot imprison a sitting president.

You remove the president from office, then you have a fair trial and if that fair trial on weight of the evidence leads to a conviction, then you impose a sentence on the offender.

The idea behind impeachment and trial is that NO ONE is above the law, not the executive, not representatives, not senators, and not judges. I understand the sentiment of not wanting the process to turn to a particularly partisan one, but that is what the voters are for. If your representative are merely playing cynical political games, then they are not representing you and you need to vote them out.

I do agree, much to my disappointment, with your sentiment. It is idealistic for people to think that a legal justice process would not devolve into partisan fighting because we are very tribal. I would prefer that every American from the wealthiest and most powerful, to those with the least of means, would be treated equally by the law, but again, that is naive.

I would add that the hyperbole is not helpful, even though you are trying to make a point it comes of as condescending.

...our malignant narcissist of a faux president will never give up the spotlight. He may only be in office for 2, 4, or more (god forbid) years but he's going to be the gift that keeps on giving for a long list of -ist types til the day he dies. To him, the spotlight is oxygen.

48. He doesn't act like a president now.

That it one thing (and this is not directed at you CincyDem) that I don't understand in this situation. The Donald Trump that we saw in the 70's and 80's getting hit with discrimination suits, that we saw in the mid 80's railing against the Central Park 5, that we saw cheat on not one but 2 wives, that we saw in the 2000's spouting racist birtherism, that we heard throughout the campaign... that guy is the real Donald Trump. There is no other guy back there who will somehow change or come out and become presidential.

We have a rich spoiled, emotionally stunted, tremendously damaged, racist man who never really had to work hard in his life and there are still people who think that there is more there. He is 71! There is no change coming, except the likely descent into dementia and continual decline in functioning.

69. Who are they going to fight? Other republicans?

Because one way or another, removing Trump is going to require the support of a bunch of republicans.

For example, to impeach, it currently would require 24 House Repubs to join with every House Democrat. Maybe, hopefully that number will decline after the 2018 elections, but if the impeachment process wasn't begun until 2019, it's going to be hard to get it completed before the 2020 election since repubs may have an incentive to slow the process down as much as they can.

And it would take 19 Senators to convict -- again, may be a lesser number after November 2018, but still a bunch.

And if its the 25th amendment that's in play (and I for one don't think it ever will be), you're talking about the VP, one half plus one of the cabinet and, ultimately, 96 House Republicans (and 19 Senate Republicans) joining with Democrats to push Trump out.

Where the repubs have numbers, they have repub representatives. Are they going to go looking for Democrats or will they eat their own?

It would be easy enough to do, because anything bad that happens to Trump would get blamed on The Left anyway. Wouldn't stop the chaos in the streets, but with the madman out of the way it would make it easier to restore some sort of order.

Isolated mass murders like the ones we've been suffering through, i.e. Vegas. Possibly even a few "militia" groups doing stupid shit like occupying some Forestry Service stations or other non-strategic "targets".

Most of these people just talk shit and blow hot air just like Shitgibbon but I believe there will be violence in some quarters no matter how The Shitgibbon is removed.

21. I think the living former presidents (Bush, Clinton, Chimpy, Obama - not sure about Carter)

and some highly respected conservatives (Evan McMullin, John McCain, Richard Painter + others) have been formulating plans to help the country move forward when the Disastrous Dipshit is removed via impeachment/resignation/25th Amendment (pick one . . . I don't care which).

I also believe that McMaster, Mattis and Kelly are staying with the DOTARD administration for the same purpose . . . to help the country avert a civil war when the scope of Trump's treason/incompetence/obstruction (pick one . . . I don't care which) is fully revealed.

There will, of course, be many die-hard Trumpsters that continue to believe the Orange Menace was illegally removed. And some of those nut jobs are heavily armed. Unfortunately there will probably be some violence.

It's going to be more important than ever that we stick together when the shit hits the fan. And we will need to reach out to the more sane members of the republican party who are doubting Cheeto now. We will need their help too.

Its unlikely we will have mass rebellion. These folks are all talk. In the event a few crazies do take to the streets they wont be able to stand up to the police force or national guard. As far as attacking other citizens, that too may fail. I am in the country, a democrat in a red area.

33. Same here

... I have a rifle and four pistols and I'm not worried about them for these reasons:

1. As you said, these folks are all talk. To put their asses on the line and commit violence is a concept that would really only come to fruition in about 8-10% of them; the criminally stupid, the suicidal and the psychotic.

2. How are they going to know who to attack? Hillary voters? What if they don't have a clue who voted for Hillary? So they're going to run to Washington D.C. to "take" the White House and face down the Army, Marines, National Guard, etc.? It would turn into a bloodbath with the Trump supporters being used for target practice.

3. Let's say a few Trump nuts in my town know I've been trashing him on FB or are just aware by word of mouth that I hate the fucker. So they come to shoot up my house. I get in my son's room with the Henry .357 and drive them away. They figure "Shit, that guy's got guns. Let's go bug somebody else." Because these are cowards who won't dare attack people who can defend themselves.

He hates the job, the criticism, the White House. And he may face legal
problems when Mueller closes in.

I think he could be persuaded to resign if he and his family were given total immunity. And they may have to give him some sort of golden parachute.

Then he could spin it that he "won". Which would tamp down rebellion.

32. This won't be popular

But if I were Mueller and had him dead to rights, i would offer him a get out of jail card.

In exchange, I would ask for a full throated videotaped admission of guilt with resignation. Such admission would need to include enough information to make it clear that he duped his supporters and the whole thing was a scam.

This would take the air out most of the resistance that you mention. The hard core conspiracy theorists would find a way to believe what they want and would still act out. But those loons are in a constant state of low-level revolution anyway.

I know this seems to kind but by reasons are all practical.

Let's say we did try to send him to jail. Do you honestly think he will ever spend a day in prison? The trial would be a circus beyond anything imagined by OJ on crack. Even the basic logistics of trying to seat a jury would be impossible since no one would pass the most basic questions of jury selection. Meanwhile, we will have the worst of both worlds. Trump (still President) on a rampage AND his supporters going crazy.

I would pass on the whole circus for a solid confession that would undermine the vast majority of his support.

My reasons are much more practical.

I think a Country where 45% of the population feels that they were robbed is ungovernable.

I would rather have a Country where half of those people were ashamed and ready to move on and let the other half stew in their own juices like they always have.

In a nut shell, I would rather have him free but disgraced instead of a martyr in jail.

I think it gives us the best chance to recover.

I feel a country that has to hide from the truth is ultimately what's ungovernable. As long as we live in fear of what these idiots will do, that is what will doom America.

I don't give a shit about their feelings. In fact, my way is the most confrontational to their feelings. I want them to be confronted with their shame and be told BY THEIR SAVIOR that he was a lying sack of shit.

Don't misunderstand me. My goal is utter destruction of their entire movement. I think following a disgraced con-man into his forced retirement weakens them much more than getting Trump into prison while still a martyr to his cause.

Bannon will continue leading the rabid republican charge--but a bright side may be that in 2020, establishment republicans WON'T pursue the failed experiment of putting a moron into office. It netted them no legislation and the moron's extremist barking is tearing apart their party.

Probably not but I really need to believe in this scenario.

46. Fuck 'em. We can buy guns, too, and there's more of us than them.

They will back down when they realize that.

52. I've thought about it every freakin' day since before he won the primary.

Some of my worst fears are coming to pass - brought on by this asshole and his crew. But we can't afford NOT to use any legal remedy to remove him from his position. I envision him being carted out of the White House in a straight jacket on a heavy dose of oxycodone or some anti-psychotic drug, and the rest of the crew being carted off to jail.

53. Watch Jim Bakker and guests on youtube

Any show.

The big message preached 24/7 to millions of Evangelicals in church and on tv is that Trump has been chosen by God.

To use their beloved terms - 'God has annointed him for such a time as this' and 'touch not God's annointed.'

For such a time as this - term used in telling the Esther story: God chose her for 'this time' to save the Jews from destruction. Since Americans are today's 'chosen people' and America is under attack from demonic, godless (etc, etc) liberals pushing abortion, gay marriage, prayer and Bible kicked out of schools and the 'public square,' latest 'outrage...the message is crystal clear to all RTCs (slacktivist at patheos' term for Real True Christians, which he uses in his multi, multi post series on the Left Behind books).

trowing tantrums from their basements. A few others will want to take action, and they will be dangerous, but they will be contained.

No matter what, like others have said, America doesn't deal with terrorists.

67. Yep. The crazies are already out there.

They're already doing bad stuff to people. A year ago we were having a substantive, real argument about the confederate flag and its racism. A lot of governorships started taking them down from their buildings. Now we're having KKK rallies openly marching with great support from idiotic Nazi propagandized groups.

57. Most of them won't do anything.

Heck, the most of the political and religious parasites that feed off them will happily cut their "losses" due to the prospect of being able to continue to get money from their flocks and still not have to actually govern.
Governing is hard work, after all.
There will be a few true believers who will fight on, after having a taste of personal victory, but most of the base will slink sullenly back into their caves where they'll continue to complain about taxes paying for lazy colored/city people or innocent babies being murdered, or "Christians" being persecuted by all those Sexual and moral deviants.

62. I hope he goes down with a very sloooow, thorough impeachment.

The impeachment process will thoroughly expose this man for what he is and turn many against him. I suspect there would be some violent letting off of steam at the beginning, but it would die down as evidence is presented. Let us hope!

The kids will be occupied with saving his businesses and probably high-tail it to New York. And, I'll bet that evil staff of his like Miller will drop away like flies. The have their won asses to save!

65. The rich ones will just buy a new politician.

The poor ones will do nothing. (Except, perhaps, to pat themselves on the back for knowing it was "rigged" all along and that not even the great Donald Trump could do anything about it.)

68. If he's removed he'll probably be indicted and maybe found guilty and have to do time

I don't think it's an easy thing to remove a President with less than criminal charges waiting for him.
