Am I Russian hacked?

For the past 6 months or so, about every other time I fire up my android tablet, my weather bug appp is set to a town in Russia...Kragnorsk, Moscow. Must be a part of Moscow.

I deleted it, and it came back.

4. Try installing and running Malwarebytes.

It is free. They have an Android version: https://www.malwarebytes.com/

It's a good thing to have installed on any Internet-connected devices you use. And, run a scan every week. Or, spring for the Premium version, which will look for malware without you having to remember to scan.

7. Try downloading "Malwarebytes for Android" from Google Play.

Uninstall the version you just loaded first, just to be safe.

As for being Russian hacked, it could be. Or, your weather app is hacked at the source, perhaps?

8. Some possible reasons:

1) Your version of Android might be incompatible/out of date for the app.

2) It's not a good app.

3) You have your location finder thingy turned off.

4) You might want to install a file cleaner like Norton Clean. Don't use CCleaner because, the desktop version, at least, has been hacked recently.

9. Krasnogorsk, but probably not hacked

Androids apparently have recurring problems determining location, particularly under certain low power settings where they try to use WiFi info rather than GPS. In some cases, clearing the application data for Google Maps seems to fix the problem.

The location in Russia is fairly random — could be anywhere. If you were really hacked, you would probably not have any obvious indication. Android security is spotty, depending on vendors. Make sure all updates are installed. Avoid unnecessary apps, be careful of downloads.

That’s about the limit of my Android knowledge. I live in the Linux, Unix, OpenVMS, MAC, and iPhone worlds.
