1. Why not be explicit about it?

Why the veiled criticism? These people are no longer running for anything. They can be bold. Yet they are not.

This is a time for the gloves to be off. Trump is a bad man, doing bad things.

I HATE traditions of all kinds. But this is moronic. Trump is piece of shit.

a way where they are implicitly speaking about him but his name is not mentioned, he can't go off on them but everyone knows who they are talking about.

But the orange squirrel will probably go insane anyway when he hears Obama's remarks.

mildly critical yet non-specific criticism, and Trump has gone off on them even though they never mentioned him specifically.

They know that their voices are powerful enough to stoke dangerous divisions we are seeing. I think they are being cautious in the interest of keeping the country together.

8. Well, it's too late.

I won't be united with people who voted for Trump. They can all die painfully and I hope they do. I HATE them. And they hate me (and others), so fuck them. I don't WANT to be in the same country with them and I don't want to even acknowledge their existence.

What I want is some speech from some past (or current official) that says,"Trump is why you are dying. He took away your health care, he has allowed hate to run amok. He is PROFITING personally from his acts. He is as corrupt as anyone I have ever seen. And you deserve better. The sooner Trump and the GOP are gone, the better off you will be." That's inelegant, but that's what I want to hear. To be fair, some are doing this. I just don't see the point of Obama and Bush being statesmanlike. It is a complete waste of time.

Fuck the snowflakes on the right and fuck the cowards of any ideology that refuse to call Trump and the GOP out.

We are better than they are; if that is elitist, so be it. We CARE about others and the fate of this country. But the people we vote for (or have voted for in the past) are too concerned with maintaining norms and "civility". Well, if they don't start getting bolder, we will have a Hitler situation on our hands. Because that is where is this going. There is no time for appeasement.

Pres. John Tyler took the side of the confederacy and was considered a traitor because he participated in an aggessive effort to destroy the US. It's not too late. There is still some ambiguity and if we fall into scapegoating fellow citizens we are nothing more than the mirror image of the nazi white supremacist haters. They should be called out. They have numbers, but not so many that they could actually build a formidable army.
