How did this travesty of a consolation note happen? Did he write it himself? Or did he tell somebody "when you write this, be sure to focus on how she resisted my incredible charms instead of on the loss of her child"? Did the writer try to do the right thing but was then made to put the pick-up attempt back in?

This is just so weird.

If loyalty is so important to him (although apparently only in others but not himself), he never bothered to consider the love and loyalty that Ms. Johnson had for her spouse.
