Nothing to do with the airlines. If they actually do call up all 1,000 retired Air Force pilots (assuming they are still eligible for service), that could affect the airlines because they'd have to hire more pilots to replace those who left the Air Force to work for an airline (which wouldn't have been all of them). Those pilots would come from the smaller regional airlines - and those are the ones that might eventually be scrambling to come up with qualified pilots.

I used to work for an airline in its training department, and I'd say that fewer than 1/2 of our new hires were ex-military. It's probably even less than that now. After the Vietnam War was over there were a lot of ex-military pilots looking for airline jobs but over time those numbers decreased as the military services produced fewer and fewer pilots. Since they started using drones the demand for fighter pilots has decreased significantly. The fact that the Air Force is considering recalling some pilots suggests only that, because there has been so much less demand for military pilots in recent years, they under-recruited.
