This is not a choice between energy and the environment, the senator said. We are past that.

(16,104 posts)Hard for their representative to screw her constituency.
Especially when this likely won't go anywhere!
The game goes on.

(2,050 posts)The permafrost is melting, there have been posts here about the coastal areas problems with it and the fact that's it's happening on a large scale.
It's a bad thing, I've read that because of the melting that a huge amount of carbon dioxide will be released into the atmosphere contributing to global warming and may just be the tipping point, remember that Russia has a massive amount of permafrost and it's said to be melting also.
The ANWR is mainly permafrost, what these ignore may just be the worst thing that can happen, any large attempt to reach petroleum reserves there may just accelerate the melting.
How in the hell are they supposed to transport drilling rigs and the associated infrastructure across liquid tundra?, this could become a nightmare for us all.
As if climate change isn't already bad, the blind leading the blind.
