(642 posts)When some friends in AL posted an article about it all the replies were along the lines of how the timing was suspicious and how, I kid you not, how the same thing happened to Trump and it was proven to be untrue.

(10,437 posts)not 100% guaranteed....if alabama democrats turn out to vote for jones and a percentage of republicans don't vote or don't vote for moore, anything is possible.
but no way anything happens if democrats sit on their asses and don't vote.
We get what we deserve when we don't vote

Unfortunately, it's a national phenomenon, not just the South -- look at election of Trump in both primaries and national election.

(11,949 posts)In 1979 a 32 year old man showing up to pick up a 16 or 17 year old would have resulted in her Momma or Daddy on the porch with a shotgun unless the parents were from one of those churches.
It was just as pervy then as now.

(22,022 posts)Q: What's the definition of a virgin in Alabama?
A: A teenage girl who can run faster than her uncle.
Stereotypes aside, it's perplexing that Alabama, Mississippi and (to a lesser extent) Louisiana have such collapsed economies and societies.
These states take far more from the Federal Government than they contribute. So much for their vaunted "independence."
The continued support for the Confederacy-- the Stars and Bars are on the Mississippi state flag!-- illustrate their unwillingness to mature and join the pluralism of most of the rest of the U.S. While driving through Alabama recently, my NY license plates brought many curious and suspicious comments.
The speed with which this story about Moore came out, coupled with the ferocity of establishment Republicans embrace of it, makes me think that it's of questionable veracity. Regardless, it won't surprise me at all if Moore wins his election.

(10,437 posts)there might be some alabama republicans who may sit this one out. Lets not forget, Moore is running away from debating Jones as well and Moore will not have too friendly press coverage as he fails to take questions...
A month to go and if democrats spend money and time, this seat could be won.
