(11,142 posts)Of course, once Trump left office, a prosecutor could charge him for shooting someone on fifth avenue. But not until Congress acts to remove him from office.

(12,344 posts)It will be up to the SCOTUS to decide if he can be indicted and tried while in office. Legal opinions vary on whether he can do this, but it's notable that both the Nixon and the Clinton special prosecutors believed they could indict (and presumably try) a sitting President. I don't see why Mueller would have a different opinion, especially if he finds that Trump's crimes are worse than Nixon's.
