Moore will make Mitch's life hell. Both outcomes an improvement of the status quo.

2. Both parties have played fast and loose with the rules

on substituting on ballot in the past.

Unless Moore refuses to go, the Republicans are going to retain that Senate seat. They might anyway (but at a much greater cost especially now with McConnell statement).

I wonder if Trump is promising Moore something sweet like an ambassadorship (probably not a good thing for him) or a judicial nomination (can't see how he would get confirmed).
