negotiated the release of the UCLA players. I'm not finding anything that supports that conclusion. Ugh he's somewhat right wing no telling where he's getting his information.

(13,412 posts)Well, I don't think 45 had anything to do with their release other than China using the players as pawns to make him look good so that he would ignore the new trade deal everybody bordering the Pacific joined except the US.

(2,857 posts)Sounds typical that he would go to bat for them if so.
Maybe you could talk to your daughter about what it will be like after 10 years of Thanksgiving and Christmases with a right winger???

(2,857 posts)I was going by there was supposed to be video of them shoplifting at 3 different stores according to ESPN. If so.. but I can see Trump trying to make himself look better by getting them off without paying a penalty. If they really were shoplifting I think it's wrong to let them off scott free so he can buy favor.

(23,946 posts)to make this some kind of diplomatic coup even more people are going to laugh at him...it was two kids alledgedly shoplifting. Happens all the time. When does a president get involved..unless it is a pathetic attempt at ego boosting. Yet nary a word about Chinese political prisoners and dictatorship.
What an embarrassment.
