(26,366 posts)pointing out examples from the past that demonstrate the something was stopped before the new rules were in place
doesn't provide evidence for the argument that the new rules were necessary.

(37,481 posts)The net neutrality rule told ALL ISP's that they could not discriminate. No need for case by case decisions, only enforcement actions.
I'm not a lawyer, but I damn sure think there is a need for it, even though the FCC can still do enforcement if they chose to.

(42,393 posts)Here's what will happen: If I have Verizon Fios and if they don't want me to stream movies from say, Netflix, they'll be able to block me from going to Netflix. Or they can make the download so slow that nobody will want it. Because I should be streaming Verizon movies and they can charge me for them.
It's going to be like that across the board, the bigger the ISP is, the more muscle they will have to push us around. They'll be able to spy on us and sell our searches and favorites to any advertiser and then steer us to the same advertiser. I already have Verizon Fios - it's lightning fast but they're watching every move I make. That's why I have a VPN. Pretty soon it will be like that for everybody.
