(11,767 posts)Trump being finished? If attacking the military, gold star families, women in general, a decorated US Senator, mocking the disabled, and going after the intelligence agencies hasn't done him in then mocking a Senator, even with a slur againts Native Americans isn't going to do it.

(38,587 posts)the video, he explains 7 pathways to doom for Trump, and the Pocahontas remark plays only a small role.

(11,504 posts)I was a fan when he was at ESPN, long before I knew his political beliefs, but he never seems to stay in one place for very long. If I had to guess, he may not be fun to work with.
In terms of his reasoning, he's probably right that Trump is definitely on a trajectory that ultimately sees him gone, at least eventually, but how that plays out is going to define who we are as a nation. I certainly wouldn't be stepping away at a moment like this.

(431 posts)that he was the only person I would listen to about politics when I was in high school. I would watch him all the time when he was on MSNBC and yes I think he is better than Maddow. He said there was no scandal for him leaving and I believe him. I think he just wanted to move on. I would be lying if I said I wasnt hoping that he lands somewhere else doing political commentary again.

(590 posts)Watch the video. He planned the series to be temporary. We all know how stressful the news is today, every day. Imagine the stress of having to produce the Resistance series all the time. I try to take breaks myself from time to time, and I'm just reading the internet.

(7,951 posts)If he started right after the election last year, this would be a year of videos.
But if it's for free, I can understand. He can move onto bigger things.
Especially if he gets hired by a news org!

(819 posts)It makes no sense. The investigation is likely to go on for a long time. And even then, there's no guarantee he will be impeached. I've been saying for months, get ready for Trump 2020.... Keith thinking the end is near doesn't make any sense, or he is delusional...

(55,040 posts)and there's only so much you can say on one subject. To give up political commentary? It was his forte.
Either he knows something is coming out, like today's Twitter buzz that there could be a bipartisan aspect
to the coming debacle.
But seriously, he's been producing fewer and fewer episodes lately. He did publish a new book from them.
But if his time for this gig is up, we'll have to trust him on that. It is true that the worst of the crisis may be over,
or at least the future is no longer nebulous.

He starts his explanation at about 7minutes into this last commentary..He said it was only supposed to last a couple of months...start listening at about 6min 45 seconds you will hear why he needs some time off.

(14,093 posts)Figure the deal was for just one year. He'll likely keep tweeting and doing his thing otherwise.

(6,362 posts)During Bushs reign of terror, the only joy I received from politics were Keiths special commentaries on his MSNBC show. I hate to see him leave now before the Dotard is finished. I have no doubt that the Dotard will resign at some point claiming he fixed the economy and MAGA and he has nothing left to accomplish. This will be most appalling and will deprive us the opportunity to vote him out of office denying him a 2nd term by a historic landslide defeat in 2020. Worse the thought of Trump resigning and Pence running in 2020 on the basis that the repugs saved the country by forcing Dotard to resign is even more unthinkable. For the foreseeable future I fear there are no satsfying outcomes, even if the Dotard resigns. I hate to say it, but if the Dotard is still around in 2018 and Dems take Congress, you watch Dems will work with him. Dotard wants wins, he could care less where the win comes from. We are living in strange times.

(37,182 posts)If the tax cuts pass and he signs them, then they don't need him any more and they will work to get rid of him. If the tax cuts fail, then Trump is useless as a leader, and they're better off without him.
Either way, the Republicans will move to get Trump to resign before the mid-terms, esp. if Moore wins.

(725 posts)The seven paths laid out;
1- Deal between Muller and Flynn
2- Mostly ignore Russia, focus on obstruction of justice
3- Force a resignation by threatening 25th amendment removal.
4- Republicans remove him without Muller in order to win state elections
5- Much like three, but if Trump refuses to resign forcing the 25th amendment removal so that Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell can try to save their skin
6- After the midterms, Dems will control the house and senate and go ahead with impeachment
7- Criminal prosecution for his sexual misconduct
Though I would add an eighth; his lifestyle catches up to him and he suffers a heart attack while hate-tweeting.

(4,677 posts)After everything Trump has pulled, the "Pocahontas" slur was a fart in the wind. Sounds to me like Keith is just declaring victory as he gets pushed out the door.
The truth is Trump isn't going anywhere. Mueller is not going to prosecute him, whether or not Flynn cuts a deal. Presidents don't get indicted by the DOJ, end of story. Republicans are not going to invoke the 25th Amendment. The ONLY chance of getting him out of office before 2021 is for Dems to retake the House and then impeach the motherfucker, and then leave it to Bob Corker's silent supporters in the Senate to decide whether or not they are willing to pass up the opportunity to have President Pence for two years.

(4,677 posts)I've met people like him. They're smart and talented, but they can only remain in one job, working day after day with the same people, for a limited amount of time before they start to chafe and self-destruct.
I'm not saying that happened here. Maybe he's just mentally exhausted from focusing on this dumpster fire of a presidency. I know I am. But given his track record, I suspect he's either getting shown the door, or else he's decided to leave preemptively before things get to the point where he gets shown the door. Since he's not getting paid much, it's easy to walk away preemptively.

(5,207 posts)I noticed that when he started doing his special comments, the progressively got more angry.
He and sane Americans have every reason to be angry, but I generally didn't watch the youtube videos because his delivery is at almost 11 all of the time. When everything is turned up then significance gets lost.
This is all too unfortunate as he is a great voice otherwise.
