that brushes such things off. "Oh, Matt must be quite the jokester. Ha ha!"

No, pinching a co-worker's ass is completely inappropriate. Period.

Everyone on the receiving end goes through the checklist about how serious the offense is, would it do any good to complain, what if I just box his ears next time he does it, will anyone believe me, will the network side with him over me, can I afford to lose my job over this, what are my prospects if I do (will I get a reputation as "difficult" ). If the scales fall on the side of I'll lose my job and become poison in the industry, I'll put up with getting my ass pinched.

She was the most powerful woman in media for a while.

She just elected to let it slide.

That's part of the problem. That's one of the reasons I chose to work independently way back in 1974. My tolerance level approached zero for typical business environments.

I never looked back.

is often puzzling and complicated. My beef, though, is with those who use their positions to get what they want, whether another person is willing or not. I'm not into blaming victims, before or after the fact.

It begs the question, if your unsupported allegation is accurate, specifically why did she elect to let let it slide? That being both critically relevant and allowing necc. context.

There are tons of people way more powerful than her, and she would not necessarily have been taken seriously, and might very well have been labeled a troublemaker. And she would have known that.

in many cases. Sometimes it's sexual and sometimes it's other types of exploitation. I've just never been willing to be exploited, so I opted out of traditional employment situations. I was lucky to be able to do that. I recognize that.

I never would have put up with "getting my ass pinched," either really or metaphorically. So, I stopped putting myself in positions where that could happen. Not everyone has that privilege, however, which is why we need rules to protect people.

a) they thought she was joking or

b) they didn't see Lauer's behavior as inappropriate.

That short clip speaks loudly to the general acceptance of bad behavior.

Truly. I’m a woman and know many women, and I’m telling you, some find it flattering or flirty, especially if they find the guy attractive. This behavior won’t end, and that’s the main reason why.

It would be interesting, as well, to learn what, if anything, Couric did in return to Laurer.

I don't think harrassment is a one-way street either. Women can make men feel uncomfortable in the workplace, too.

She grabbed his hand, applied an arm lock, told him "The next time you try that, I'll break off your fucking arm and beat you to death with it."

He never did it again. Several other women in the office thanked her.

Of course, my daughter is not one to mess with. Single, 42, 6ft-1; natural blonde with hazel eyes; very athletic, in excellent shape; runs, bikes, swims, plays adult league soccer and basketball; BS, MS Civil Engineering; JD; law firm partner; drives an F250; shoots and hunts, loads her own ammo; her partner is a Maine Coon cat named Marshall Dillon.
