I think youre actually going to like this, Roy. Im going to come to Gadsden, Ala., with a team of high school cheerleaders, okay? Well meet you at the mall. Dont worry, I can get you in. And then when the girls and I show up, if you can control yourself and behave, if you can somehow manage to keep little Roy in your little cowboy pants when those nubile cheerleaders come bounding in, you and I, well sit down at the food court, well have a little Panda Express and well talk about Christian values.
So if you are challenging me to a fight, heres what well do. Lets find a place to do it. Ill wear a Girl Scout uniform so you can have something to get excited about. And the winner, whoever wins the fight, will give all the money we charge for the tickets to charity. My charity will be the women who came forward to say you molested them, okay? Alright, tough guy, with your little pistol? Jimmy Kimmel, on last nights show.

That's really harsh and so very much deserved. I can't believe this country has sunk so low we're actually looking at a child molester getting elected to the US Senate.

(13,421 posts)They need to pay taxes from this day forward. It's the law in this country that you can't hold a 501(C)3 exemption and engage in political activity.
The ban on political campaign activity by charities and churches was created by Congress more than a half century ago. The Internal Revenue Service administers the tax laws written by Congress and has enforcement authority over tax-exempt organizations. Here is some background information on the political campaign activity ban and the latest IRS enforcement statistics regarding its administration of this congressional ban.
In 1954, Congress approved an amendment by Sen. Lyndon Johnson to prohibit 501(c)(3) organizations, which includes charities and churches, from engaging in any political campaign activity. To the extent Congress has revisited the ban over the years, it has in fact strengthened the ban. The most recent change came in 1987 when Congress amended the language to clarify that the prohibition also applies to statements opposing candidates.
Currently, the law prohibits political campaign activity by charities and churches by defining a 501(c)(3) organization as one "which does not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office."

Why is it ok for a church to break the law?

(29,612 posts)you're right, who would have thought Jimmy Kimmel would become a spokesman for the ACA. He's great, and I do like how he interviews his guests. I personally think he's better at hosting then Stephen Colbert is. Stephen is so interrupting of his guests, I always feel he still wants to be "the one" and doesn't let the guest shine. Where Jimmy really does let the guest he's interviewing get the spot light. JMHO.

Your move, Moore.
Moore talks like a tough guy, but he's only willing to battle teenage girls.

(36,644 posts)Political Christians rather than Christians of faith.
They support Trump who says he is so perfect that he does not need Christ or his forgiveness.
Like today's evangelical/religious right supporters, Trump is a Political Christian, not a Christian of faith.
Evangelicals/religious right are easily able to spin their beliefs for political expediency.
The Donald who does not have to ask Jesus for forgiveness.

Thanks.
