The wider collective wisdom of the market does not believe the Billionaire Relief Act of 2017 is actually in the interest of stockholders. Its imminent passage scares everybody but the Kochs and the Deplorables.

And as I type this, it's only down 224 points, which is less than one percent.

It's important to do the math and not freak out over the raw numbers.

The markets do this on a routine basis. Make no judgments until the close of markets, and then don't react for at least a week.

People here tend to report these things -- today's initial 350 point drop -- as if it's huge, as if it's a crash.

Makes me crazy.

The markets go up. The markets go down. Overall, they go up more than they go down, which is why trying to time the market is a fool's game.

Guy learned to time it perfectly and had everyone in the world trying to either hire him or learn his secret.

I saw it in a movie! I think it will work!

it would be a good thing if everyone who has money in the market were to lose it all.

Not everyone who owns stocks in some form is part of the 1%. Everyone's 401k is at least partially in stocks or mutual funds. Most pension plans (and they do still exist ot there) are invested.
