He has always been able to bluff or to bully his way past anyone, including the media, that might question his lies.

Once someone questions his lies, he has nowhere to turn.

donnie has no conscience, so no problem there.

and trying to be good at it can take a lot of energy -- keeping track of the truth vs. your lie, remembering what you said, making sure further embellishments are plausible.

but donnie resolves that easily by simply forgetting about the truth entirely. he immediately accepts his own lies as fact, as reality. there's no struggle between two worldviews because there is only one, the one where whatever he says is the truth.
