Aer Lingus yesterday responded to the sketch, seen by hundreds of thousands of viewers around the globe.

In a light-hearted poll, it asked people whether they found the skit funny. Unfortunately for Saoirse, a whopping 66pc of respondents gave it the thumbs-down.
The airline then sent out a Tweet in the style of US President Donald Trump.

Irish people can take a joke but this wasn't funny nor clever, and a lot of people were disappointed Saoirse didn't point that out to the writer. She should have known.

Apart from that, I thought Cecily Strong's Irish accent was pretty good. Kate's accent was more Scottish.
