They have long lines at the few stores that are open, limited things available.
Water lines work for an hour or two daily, but most of the time not at all. They have been told the water still needs to be treated/filtered for drinking.
No power. Maybe by Christmas, but they told her maybe by Thanksgiving before, so they aren't holding their breath for this.
Occasional cell service, but now they at least get it for part of the day most days.
Too sad

(3,208 posts)They are staying on a cruise ship. They do most of their work at a convention center, which he says has power. He also said traffic is crazy because the traffic lights are out.
He will miss the holidays with family (which is hard because he had been in Tanzania with the Peace Corp for two years!), but we are all very proud of what he and the other folks in Americorps are doing!
