The Franken matter is a classic example of why Democrats lose and lose and lose and lose and lose...

Trump brags on tape about "grabbing pussy" and gets elected. 20 or so accusers on record. All is forgotten. No calls to resign. No calls for investigations. Roy Moore is a child rapist, and he may very well get elected. He is endorsed, and they stand by him. And it goes on and on. But Franken, accused by shady Republican Trump supporters obviously on a hitjob mission and who are obviously making BULLSHIT claims from MANY years ago over photo ops WITH PEOPLE RIGHT THERE, and the Dems line up to execute one of their own without an investigation and with SHIT evidence. Guilty until proven innocent and hellbent on being ultra-politically correct. It is political SUICIDE. And they keep committing it. No backbone. Sheer and absolute WEAKNESS. Period!

The Dems, MY OWN PARTY, are simply hellbent on proving how SPINELESS they are at every god damned turn! It just SICKENING! Enough to make me want to VOMIT.

By playing the nice cop all the time it makes people think there is no difference between the parties except that one is strong and the other is weak. If you are a potential voter who has not made up their mind between the parties, wouldn't you rather vote for the strong one and not the weak one?

For other people they become demoralized and stay home and say "they are all scumbags, why bother voting." Nonvoters are more likely to fit the Democratic voter profile (non-white, less affluent, etc.) so this cynicism hurts us way more than the Republicans who can always count on their hardcore voters coming out for them no matter who they run, as Trump proved.

At this point, there aren't just a few wisps of smoke but thick clouds giving strong evidence of a raging fire. The longer this drags on, who knows how many more women speak out about inappropriate behaviour on Franken`s part. This may be part dirty politics as well but it's still an unforced error. I`m as sorry as anybody that Franken has to step down; I'm also really disappointed in him for letting us down. I`ll remind you that Obama got through 8 years as POTUS without a hint of scandal. We should expect no less from our other Democratic representatives.

for one thing we do not know if there any other women out there with more recent experiences.

For another thing, we've blasted the Republicans for trying to pull the "many years ago" thing with both Trump and Moore. Certainly Moore's offences that we know about (and I would call some of them criminal even contemporaneously, which I would not do with Franken's) were at least 25 years ago.

The point about many years ago in THIS case is these are WEAK WEAK WEAK claims about things that ALLEGEDLY happened so long ago and now being DRUDGED UP AS HIT JOBS TO GO AFTER FRANKEN TO TAKE THE HEAT OFF MOORE AND TRUMP. They are nowhere near to the degree of child rape or attempted rape like Moore or even what Trump did. SHAME to you for comparing the two.

Why aren't you out there railing for Trump to resign or for Moore to get out that race? These Dem senators are making a POLITICAL calculation and EATING THEIR OWN, and it will BACKFIRE BIGTIME because now the R attack machine knows it WORKS, they will NOT be held to the same standards, and Dems have proven once again they would rather destroy themselves than stand and fight. What they should do is have an investigation and at most censure Franken. But going after him to resign over scant and WEAK BULLSHIT "evidence" flies in the face of due process, knowing there are DEGREES of things, and holding the other side just as accountable. They fell for the RIGHT WING TRAP YET AGAIN. This is BULLSHIT!

My god, "In a photo op he squeezed my waist flesh." Do you think THAT is "groping."????? Anyone who does needs a brain transplant.

This is a BULLSHIT. It is a hitjob, and you are swallowing it hook, line, and sinker. Goody goody for you. Join the circular firing squad. Have fun.

Are you serious? Maybe not in our eyes, but Republicans think he was the most corrupt president ever.

Here’s a short rundown of a few highlights.
Fast and Furious. IRS/Lois Lerner. Solyndra. Birthers. Benghazi. Crisis at VA. Obamacare website. Uranium One.

Now we know these are all BS. While there are some areas of concern in some of these “scandals” the malfeasance of Obama doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. Much like the unfounded allegations against Franken.

The difference is that Democrats by and large didn’t abandon Obama during these events.

Because Democrats don’t know how to control the message the way Republicans do.

If they had closed ranks and implemented message discipline that this contact was inadvertent and happens to lots of people during these meet and greet photo events. Boom end of story.

They should have kept their mouths shut on Moore’s behavior. Let the media talk and let Republicans have to defend. Defer all questions to GOP leaders. Not make it a political issue. Remind folks of all the other reasons to not vote for Moore.

But Democrats struggle with messaging.

Is that his own words are creepy enough without anyone else’s help.

- he regularly dated teens (mostly over age of consent) when he was in his 30s
- he asked the mothers permission before he asked the girls out
- he first noticed his future wife during a dance recital when she was a teenager, remembered her years later when they met again
- started dating his wife while she was still married

That’s just the stuff I know he’s talked about himself. Never mind the accusers.

Rachel’s guest, Senator from Hawaii (forgive me, I forgot her name), did NOT give a convincing argument as to why she and her colleagues are urging him to resign. Basically she sited the word of five ppl, some of whom, IMO, are not being truthful. Accuser number one was very obviously a willing participant in a rowdy USO show, even instigating bumping and grinding with other entertainers during the performance, but later singling out Franken as a sexual predator.

Several others wish to fling accusations under the veil of anonymity.

Note: Kamala Harris didn't have staff answering her phones - I left a message. Kirsten Gillibrand's DC number just disconnected me several times after one ring. So I called one of her offices in New York and had a nice talk with a staffer there.

I suspect those Dems who have called for Franken to resign have been getting some major backlash from people like me. And, if they keep it up, they won't be getting any donations or other support from me. Because calling on Franken to resign at this juncture is spineless, stupid and very bad politics.

Thu Dec 7, 2017, 10:30 AM
Dec 2017

Is it going to show the voters we are on high ground?

Bunk!

Voters will simply remember the Democratic Senator had to resign in disgrace because of (alleged) sexual misconduct....and they will leave out the alleged in their minds!

Now if we fought the good fight, showed how Franken had not really done anything rising even remotely to the level of sexual abuse.....then some would agree and others would disagree....but we at least would look like we believed he was innocent and were standing up for something.

By throwing in the towel we just make ourselves look more guilty.

We delude ourselves if we think failure to stand up against a set up is going to help us in any way. It is not. It is going to hurt us.

So we will continue down the path of a groper who is president (the high road really worked, didn't it?), Moore will be elected anyway and everyone will forget about his child molesting, while the voting public will learn from all this that the Democrats are the ones with sexual harrassment problems, look who had to resign!!!!

Franken should not resign, because there is not any credible evidence here. But forcing him to resign will make him look more guilty, and it will make the Democratic Party look more guilty....and the brainiacs leading this lynch mob don't have a clue about the political effects of their cowardess!
